Chiropractic vs Yoga : Partners in Natural Health

When it comes to health, it’s no surprise that natural methods will work together, aiding one into a general state of well being. This is surely the case when it comes to chiropractic and yoga! Where the root of yoga is to target the mental and spiritual self, chiropractic focus’ on the physical and emotional self. However, even someone new to both practices will be able to tell you that even if the practice targets one or two aspects of the self, all four are touched, nourished and replenished. After all, everything is connected, so when you begin to heal one part of the body, the rest are bound to follow.

In yoga, we use asana (postures/poses), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation in order to connect the mind with the body, to be in the here and now. We do head stands, arm balances and inversions in order to ensure the body is able to sit in meditation for as long as possible comfortably. The focus is always healing the mind, yet through asana we actually strengthen the body as a side effect of it! What’s that you ask? A side effect? You heard right! Natural methods actually have positive, and nourishing side effects instead of those listed in fine print on the side of the bottle of prescriptions.

In Chiropractic, we use the bodies first developed cells (the spine) in order to heal the body itself. Full circle. While in our mothers womb, the first thing that we develop is a spine and our brain, nervous system and vital organs develop from those cells. So it would only make sense that we would use that same system in order to revert our bodies back to a general state of health. Target the spine and the rest of our bodies will follow. Like most things in life, we only seek out help of any kind when something is wrong, or we feel pain. By seeking our chiropractic care, we get out of pain and thus into a better emotional state. Look at that! Another positive side effect to natural health care! It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tell you that when you are not in pain you’re energy is restored and your quality of life goes through the roof! Raise that roof my friend because you’ll be able to dance, play with your kids, work better, and even breathe better once your energy is returned to you!
